Well I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New year! My Christmas was great and the New Year came and went before I realized it. I spent most of the holidays moving into a new apartment which is why I’ve fallen behind with my posts. But I did want to post something I worked on last week.
I haven’t been lucky enough to acquire many of the coolest photography toys available on the market. Fortunately there are usually alternative ways to accomplish similar effects without the outrageous cost of professional photography equipment. A ring flash can produce a killer effect that is often seen in high fashion photograph. After playing around with different lighting techniques I discovered a way to use a standard 22 inch LCD monitor to produce effects similar to that of a small ring flash. Here are some shots from our first attempt.
